Becca & Adam

December 2019

I met Becca and Adam a few years ago, on the night of Adam’s 40th and more importantly, the night he proposed to Bec! We had a great night and have been friends ever since. When they finally announced their wedding plans I secretly hoped they’d ask me to be their photographer but assumed they would know plenty of photographers, especially because of their involvement in events, wedding and festivals. Anyway, they asked and I said YES! Ok so I know it’s not me getting married but it’s the next best thing and I got to hang out with them all day, friends say they want me to enjoy their wedding as a guest so I can relax but I almost prefer photographing because I get more alone time with the couple than anyone else!

Becca’s dress was so elegant and detailed, she had an amazing hand painted leather jacket featuring a couple of lovebirds to keep that December chill at bay and the bridesmaids wore multi coloured striped dresses. Even Nigel (the dog) looked super smart in his bow tie. Oh and of course Adam didn’t scrub up too badly either.
Adam and Becca’s invitations were gig tickets and the ceremony location was secret until the very last minute. They were invited to meet at The Hare and Hounds in Kings Heath where they were greeted and given a festival style wristband to allow them onto the vintage ‘tour bus’ and driven to Zellig in Digbeth. They got married in The Old Library, a stunning backdrop for their colourful theme, the balloons looked gorgeous. Becca didn’t have flowers, except for the mega beautiful headdress, the bridal party all had confetti balloons which they released in memory of her Dad.
We wandered off to take a few couple photos and were spoiled for choice, from impressive graffiti to the low winter sun, it was almost a shame to have to go back to the drinks reception. Luckily Nomad, a breakout space in Zellig with a huge chandelier and greenery covered walls was a treat to photograph too. We even sneaked upstairs to take a few photos on the bridge, I really was spoiled for choice for cool backdrops.
The ‘After Party’ was held at The Hare and Hounds, a pub/venue for DJ’s and bands but it was transformed for the evening reception, I barely recognised the place, it was filled with neon flamingos and cacti, balloons and personalised Christmas crackers. Amazing atmospheric light for some long exposure photography. After the meal there was a great band and then their friends DJ’d, more of an awesome night out than a wedding reception, it reflected these two perfectly.

From the couple…

We’ve just looked at all the photos… we LOVE them! Thank you SO much you legend. xxx
